For months and months, I’d been paying to rescue dogs myself and charging nobody. I had no idea how I was going to keep doing it.
Then I received a message, someone wanted to speak to me. I didn’t know them. I’d never even heard their name. They asked about the dogs, and a few minutes after we talked, they sent me one Bitcoin. It was worth about $116,000.
I could’ve gotten a nice hotel room that night. Instead, I went looking for more dogs and slept in my van at a Love’s. The universe had given me a way to stay on the road, and I wasn’t about to stop driving.
I could’ve kept the Bitcoin and sold off pieces whenever the van needed fuel or another dog needed help. Eventually, there would’ve been nothing left. I know how much this road costs.
Instead, I sold it and bought Dogecoin and meme coins I believed in. Then I kept going.
Since that morning in Arizona, I’ve driven hundreds of thousands of miles, helped rescue hundreds of dogs, and spent a hell of a lot of money doing it. And today, what I hold is worth more than that stranger gave me.
A year ago, I didn’t know how I’d pay for the next rescue. I still don’t always know what’s around the next turn.
