## @X_Four_iv (FOUR | Crypto Spaces) · 09-23 04:50 · ♥101 ↻0 💬116 Bitcoin is one of the largest assets in the entire crypto market, and the overwhelming majority of it isn't doing anything.

That gap — a massive asset base sitting outside of DeFi — is the whole opportunity behind BTCFi as a category, and it's worth asking honestly which networks are actually positioned to capture it.

Most holders want three things simultaneously

Keep their BTC exposure, keep control of their Bitcoin, and keep their activity private.

Historically you could get maybe one or two of those at once.

Custodial platforms gave you convenience but took your custody. Public onchain bridges gave you custody but stripped your privacy. Nobody was solving for all three.

strkBTC is @Starknet 's answer

Bridge BTC in from your own wallet, stay in custody as it moves, land in an ecosystem with an actual DeFi stack already live — Endur, Vesu, Sats Terminal, avnu, Ekubo, Troves — and private flows available through shielding and private swaps when you want reduced public exposure on your balance and strategy.

That combination is the actual unlock

It's not BTC on another chain — dozens of networks offer that. It's BTC on a chain where custody, utility, and privacy aren't three separate compromises you have to negotiate between.

Whichever network solves the idle-Bitcoin problem without asking holders to give up control or privacy to do it is going to capture a disproportionate share of BTCFi as it grows. Right now, that's the bet Starknet is making, and it's already live.

DeFi carries real risk regardless of network — smart contract, bridge, liquidity, and market risk among them, with potential loss of funds. Nothing here is investment advice. Do your own research.

## @real_shnida (SHNIDA) · 09-23 04:28 · ♥93 ↻21 💬67 Holding BTC for me is still a core strategy for many people, but some holders also want access to DeFi without giving up control over how their assets are being managed for real.

BTC can be brought from a user’s own wallet, converted into strkBTC, and then used across Starknet DeFi.

strkBTC made that option exist on @Starknet , and that makes it way more different, the choice between public and shielded use. Users can keep their activity public when needed, or shield selected strkBTC balances and transfers through supported wallets too.

i think this creates a more flexible way to use BTC onchain, hold it, use it in DeFi, or put it to work through supported applications such as staking.

For Bitcoin holders looking beyond simple custody, strkBTC offers another way to participate in the Starknet ecosystem. https://x.com/real_shnida/status/2102616023090299021
