So AI Context = Pure Intelligence?
OpenAI says it is working with Samsung on next generation chips, and the relationship may go beyond memory.
Harrison Kim, GM of OpenAI Korea, said the two companies have made significant progress on production and research for OpenAI’s next generation chips. He did not specify Samsung’s exact role.
Kim stressed memory. Demand will keep rising as more advanced chips are needed for faster, more complex compute, so cooperation with South Korean suppliers is a priority.
Jalapeño, OpenAI’s first custom chip with Broadcom, is being made at TSMC, with Samsung reportedly supplying HBM4 (sixth gen). Tape out took about nine months with help from AI models. OpenAI says gen 2 is deep in development and gen 3 is already taking shape.
