But it's been awhile since I've seen anything like this: Hundreds or perhaps thousands of nasty comments, some of them quite menacing or even violent (one shared my address) on Instagram, in response to my commentary about the Cornell rape lawsuit.
I am unshaken by this, so mostly what I wanted to share is how silo'd these kinda of mobs have become—and that this might be more beneficial than I previously realized. Here on X, it's mixed-to-agreement with my perspective. On my YouTube videos, it's the same. But over on Instagram, it's obviously very different.
And well, that's sort of a good thing. In the olden days, I think, the mob would come for you everywhere. But in 2026, X is much more of a safe haven for people who dissent from mainstream/liberal orthodoxy. I have always appreciated this is an abstract sense, but today I am reminded of it very viscerally.
