PANews reported on October 9, citing Bitcoin.com News, that an armed robbery took place at a luxury residence near Pattaya, Thailand. Three armed men used a ladder to sneak into the community in the early morning, held a Chinese national with Turkish citizenship at gunpoint, forced him to open a safe and hand over cash and three luxury watches, and coerced him into transferring roughly $820,000 worth of cryptocurrency, which they then immediately sold. The victim managed to escape and reported the incident to police. Police have located the abandoned vehicle, reviewed surveillance footage, and are tracing the sold crypto assets, with the immigration bureau also involved in the investigation.
