Gaming is not a cheap hobby in 2026. Needless to say, most gamers are generally happy when they're able to stumble on discounts.
Users on Reddit have apparently discovered a bizarre real-life hack that can potentially cut the price off games for the Switch 2 by about $20. Oddly enough, it's been reported that this is causing... bananas to get sold out a Wal-Marts.
By purchasing a single banana for about 20 cents, it's possible to secure a $20 promo for games playable on the Switch 2. Even a new release like Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is susceptible to this trick.
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is normally $69.99 for a digital copy, but the price is increased to $79.99 for physical copies. Through this trick, the game can supposedly be picked up for $60.
Essentially, the order is made online and the user is able to pick up their game along with their single banana for a much better price than the standard. As mentioned before, this is apparently causing bananas to become sold out in certain locations.
However, there's apparently an even better version of this exploit available. Users on Reddit have reported that it's possible to get the promo by adding a single banana to a cart, and then removing the item.
Even if the banana is removed from the cart, the promo is still applied, for some reason. Of course, you're effectively just saving yourself... another 20 cents by doing this. This will likely be removed at some point.
For us fighting game aficionados it may be possible to pick up games such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or Street Fighter 6 for the Switch 2 using this method, though there haven't been any reports about it working for these titles specifically just yet.
