## @HQsicy (TrendHQ) · 09-25 14:49 · ♥21 ↻0 💬1 magic eden’s story gets even more interesting when you look beyond the $me collapse.
the company went from becoming solana’s dominant nft marketplace to a $1.6b valuation, expanding across ethereum, bitcoin ordinals, runes and other chains.
then the market changed.
$me launched in december 2024, fell sharply, and magic eden kept pivoting into new products as the nft market weakened.
by february 2026, the company announced it was shutting down its bitcoin and evm marketplaces.
but even after the marketplace shuts down, something important can remain:
old wallet approvals.
recently, nft trader cirrus noticed thousands of nfts suddenly leaving hundreds of wallets for 0 eth.
one wallet moved 3,832 nfts.
it looked like a massive exploit at first.
but the wallet was linked to 0xquit, vp of blockchain at yuga labs, who confirmed it was a whitehat rescue operation.
the owners had previously approved magic eden contracts to move their nfts.
those permissions were still active.
the nfts were reportedly moved to safer wallets before someone malicious could exploit the same approvals.
that’s the part people should pay attention to.
you can stop using a dapp.
the dapp can shut down.
the hype can disappear.
but an old smart-contract approval can still remain active.
magic eden’s story isn’t just about the collapse of an nft marketplace.
it’s also a reminder that your wallet remembers permissions long after you forget them.
check your approvals.
unused permissions are still permissions. https://x.com/HQsicy/status/2103497036548948052
