(Gray News) - Six hand soaps distributed to 15 states have been recalled because they may be contaminated with bacteria.

The hand soaps were distributed by Intercon Chemical Co. to 19 wholesale companies and one retail company across 15 states, including California, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Mississippi, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Four of the hand soaps are potentially contaminated with unspecified bacteria. Two of the soaps are sold under the Laura Lynn brand, which is sold at Ingles grocery stores.

The recalled hand soaps include:

- 301 cases of 8-ounce Laura Lynn Honey Apple Crisp Liquid Hand Soap with UPC 086854074305; lot codes C3576 and 26-01804; best by dates of Nov. 5, 2026, and March 2028.

- 294 cases of 7.5-ounce Laura Lynn Foaming Pear Scent Hand Soap with Moisturizers with UPC 08685407408, lot code 26-01001 and best by date March 13, 2028.

- 1,040 cases of 28.7-ounce Summit 150 Foaming Hand Soap with lot codes BF97303, BF97304 and BF97305; UPC 810080570030 and best by dates of Feb. 3, 2028, Feb. 4, 2028 and Feb. 5, 2028.

- 224 cases of 33.8-ounce Vestis Foaming Hand Soap, Fresh Pear Scent with UPC 810080570405, lot code 26-03091 and best by date May 2028.

The other recalled soaps are potentially contaminated with several types of Pseudomonas and Serratia bacteria, which are known to be resistant to antibiotics and can cause complications including blood infections, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, eye infections, brain infections, bone infections and heart infections.

The hand soaps include:

- 693 cases of 28.7-ounce Intercon Foaming Pear Hand Soap with Aloe with UPC 789745002981; lot codes AF97312, 26-01001 and 26-01803 and best by dates of Jan. 12, 2028, March 13, 2028, and March 2028.

- 143 cases of 34-ounce Clearly Better by Intercon Foaming Pear Hand Soap with Aloe with UPC 789745002615, lot codes 26-01001 and 26-01803; with best by dates of March 13, 2028 and March 2028.

The soaps may be found in businesses and public places, in addition to Ingles grocery stores.

Anyone who has purchased or used the recalled hand soaps should stop using them right away and contact their doctor if they have developed symptoms of illness.
