## @AtlasShrug1 (John Galt) · 09-13 03:37 · ♥38 ↻5 💬7 If hyperscaler capex comes down, there would be less crowding out for USTs to have to contend with, possibly easing pressure on yields. At the same time, the AI “ecosystem” stocks would collapse, likely ushering in a recession (capex, consumer, or possibly both). A major slowdown would also help the long end of the curve, albeit not the way equity investors would like.

Is the AI “slowdown” a quid pro quo? Maybe the govt offering the frontier labs some sort of guarantees in exchange for them agreeing to do this in an attempt to save the bond market?

I am not one for conspiracy theories but…it’s an interesting speculation. I find it almost impossible to believe this has anything to do w/ safety concerns or an existential risk to humanity. https://x.com/AtlasShrug1/status/2098979284714975607
