I'll simplify what Beni said without making Kalshi team members cry. At least I'll try ↓
1/ Kalshi chooses their Market Makers and provides them with fee rebates
This means that these MM's can trade at effectively zero net fees after rebates, which makes it extremely cheap to churn huge amounts of volume back and forth and inflate activity.
2/ Their ETH-PERP showed $538.6M in daily volume with only $3.1M in OI
For that to happen, the same capital would have to be traded back and forth 174 times, which is highly unlikely.
3/ They had $538.6M in volume on [date], but the biggest position on their leaderboard was only ~$17.6K
Hundreds of millions are traded every day on Kalshi, while only a small number of people hold a large position, which is very suspicious.
4/ @jumptrading received equity in Kalshi in exchange for providing liquidity
This means one of the companies helps create Kalshi’s trading volume and also directly benefits if Kalshi grows and its numbers look stronger.
5/ Kalshi defines volume as the number of contracts traded, but displays that number with a $ sign
So if 100K contracts traded at $0.30, it can appear as $100K in volume, even though the YES buyers only paid around $30K.
