## @Eliteonchain (Elite🏝) · 09-24 14:08 · ♥63 ↻0 💬41 Bitcoin-backed lending is no longer one business model.
Some protocols keep BTC locked on Bitcoin. Others move it into custody, issue wrapped representations, or turn it into collateral that also earns yield.
The borrower gets liquidity in each case, but custody, liquidation and repayment mechanics differ.
Here are 8 models you should understand:
1. ZEST PROTOCOL | NATIVE BTC COLLATERAL
BTC → Bitcoin L1 vault → USDC on Ethereum
@ZestProtocol’s new Bitcoin Collateral Vaults keep BTC in individual Taproot vaults while representing its collateral value on Ethereum.
No wrapping or bridging of the BTC.
The September 23 mainnet demo is capped at 0.001 BTC per wallet. It is a live demonstration, not yet a large-scale credit market.
2. FIREFISH | NATIVE BITCOIN ESCROW
BTC → Multisig escrow → Fiat or stablecoin loan
Your BTC stays on Bitcoin in a dedicated 3-of-3 multisig escrow. Repayment returns the collateral, while default or liquidation can transfer it to the designated liquidator.
@firefish_io coordinates loans between borrowers and lenders without converting the collateral into a DeFi token.
3. LOMBARD BITCOIN SMART ACCOUNTS | CUSTODY-MIRRORED CREDIT
In @Lombard_Finance your BTC stays with a qualified custodian while a corresponding onchain position becomes eligible for borrowing through Morpho.
The underlying coins do not need to move into a conventional wrapped-token deposit.
This is designed for institutional holders whose custody arrangements cannot simply be abandoned to access DeFi.
4. ZEST STACKS MARKET | sBTC COLLATERAL
BTC → sBTC on Stacks → Borrowed assets
Unlike @ZestProtocol’s native-BTC vault, this model uses a Bitcoin-backed representation on @Stacks.
Borrowing occurs through lending contracts, with pair-specific collateral requirements and liquidation thresholds.
Same underlying asset exposure. Different custody and settlement architecture.
5. COINBASE / MORPHO / KAMINO | cbBTC COLLATERAL
BTC → Coinbase custody → cbBTC → DeFi borrowing
Coinbase issues cbBTC against BTC held in custody.
On @Base, @Coinbase integrates @Morpho for borrowing. On Solana, @Kamino supports cbBTC-backed borrowing.
The underlying BTC remains with Coinbase while the borrower pledges the tokenized representation.
6. AAVE | WBTC COLLATERAL
BTC → WBTC → Aave lending market
The borrower supplies a wrapped representation of Bitcoin and accesses liquidity against it.
@Aave’s smart contracts monitor the position and permit liquidation when its health falls below the required threshold.
The exposure combines Bitcoin price risk, wrapped-asset risk and lending-market risk.
7. LOMBARD LBTC | YIELD-BEARING COLLATERAL
BTC → LBTC → Morpho borrowing
Unlike an ordinary wrapped BTC asset, LBTC also carries a yield strategy.
@Lombard_Finance’s current yield model includes a covered-call strategy applied to part of the backing.
Borrowing against LBTC therefore combines collateral exposure, yield-strategy exposure and debt obligations.
8. LEDN | CUSTODIED BITCOIN LOANS
BTC → Qualified custody → USD-denominated loan
@hodlwithLedn operates a more conventional Bitcoin-backed credit model.
Borrowers pledge BTC held in custody, receive loan proceeds and repay under the agreed loan terms.
Its collateral-management and liquidation arrangements differ from permissionless DeFi lending contracts.
…
What Actually Happens To Your BTC?
Two borrowers can pledge $100K worth of BTC and receive the same dollar loan.
But what happens to their Bitcoin can be completely different:
> One has native BTC locked on Bitcoin. > Another holds a wrapped-asset position. > A third has collateral with a qualified custodian. > A fourth borrows against a yield-bearing representation.
Their BTC exposure looks similar on a portfolio dashboard, but their custody rights, collateral risks, liquidation processes and routes back to native BTC are not. https://x.com/Eliteonchain/status/2103124542616920547
## @Praise1178 (𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘇𝗲) · 09-23 17:35 · ♥50 ↻7 💬30 Good evening CT ✌️
Infra upgrades are having a moment and most people scroll past because they sound like homework.
They’re not homework. They’re the reason your swap either feels instant or just sits there while you start questioning your life choices.
Three things are actually moving right now.
Solana is testing Alpenglow on testnet. The whole point is getting a transaction final in about 150 milliseconds instead of that painful ~13 seconds. That wait is why exchanges and bridges still sit on your deposit like they don’t trust you. Alpenglow swaps the old voting style for something called Votor so validators can lock a block in one or two rounds.
You won’t change how you send a tx. Wallets stay the same. The messy part: this test is running on Agave only. Firedancer isn’t in yet so client diversity is on pause for the experiment. Sept 28 is not launch day no matter who tweets it like it is. Testnet first. Then they watch it. Then maybe mainnet.
Sonic already shipped. V2.2 is live.
Bundled transactions means a whole DeFi combo can succeed or fail together instead of leaving you halfway through a swap with your bags looking stupid. Apps can sponsor gas so users just tap once. Contracts can be bigger so builders stop splitting apps like a bad group project. They also cut extra token mints except validator rewards and they’re talking about who actually gets paid from fees.
Speed is cute. Changing who eats is the real plot.
Zcash has dates. NU7 testnet around October 6. Mainnet target November 5 if October 20 doesn’t blow up. Blocks go from 75 seconds to 25. First confirmation gets a lot less annoying. They’re also parking a chunk of fees and feeding them back to miners later when issuance gets thin.
Privacy coin that also wants to feel faster. That’s why ZEC has been loud this week and it’s not only the ETP headline.
If you only remember one thing, remember this:
Faster blocks are not the same as final. Final is when the money cannot bounce. Tokenized stocks and RWAs only work if that moment is short enough that a real desk will treat it like settlement, not a maybe.
Watch three checkpoints: - Does Firedancer catch Alpenglow - Does Sonic usage follow the upgrade or just the announcement - Does NU7 actually flip on in November
That’s the infra tape. Not vibes. Clocks.

## @pullupso (PULLUP) · 09-24 04:08 · ♥56 ↻2 💬8 Been a while since I've seen a project fire off all cylinders in multiple spheres (social, ai, trading, defi, etc) well enough like this. Familiars is hopefully here to stay.
This is the musebook / moltbook play of solana and it connects traders and nerds together, regardless of token price anyone can make an agent, and regardless of capital any agent can become profitable with enough time spent developing, this is an entirely new ball park and has potential to make things very fun, will be training my familiar day and night to run shit while im sleeping and ill make an update post abt that soon. if you're sleeping on this i highly suggest looking into it. > 引用 @familiarsfamily: https://t.co/ytqIkgKsSA is live.
A public board where AI agents trade Solana with real money. Every trade comes straight from the chain.
Make an agent in a couple of minutes: pick a brain, name it, fund it. Or let your own agent join by itself.
The AI is free. https://t.co/Yi1VjMm9De https://x.com/pullupso/status/2102973355091800129
