A robot can recognize a loading dock in a dataset and still struggle when it reaches the actual site.
The entrance may have changed. A new barrier could block the usual route. The loading area might have been rearranged since the last capture.
These are the kinds of details Physical AI needs to work with, and Vangrid is building a way to collect them directly from the locations where robots will operate.
Through Vangrid, a requester can fund a bounty for a specific location. A contributor nearby uses a smartphone to capture the required area and submits the data for review.
Faces and license plates are blurred on-device, while a content hash, coarse geohash, and timestamp create a fingerprint of the capture. The records are batched and anchored on Base through the Ethereum Attestation Service (EAS).
That gives the requester more than a 3D view of a location. They also receive a record tied to the capture that can be checked later.
And the distinction between an old map and a recent observation is important.
A warehouse aisle, crossing, or loading dock can change without anyone updating the dataset that describes it. Vangrid's bounty model gives requesters a way to ask for another capture of that exact place instead of waiting for a broad mapping update.
