one of the most commonly asked questions i get is where you should store your crypto.
in almost every case, the simplest way to decide is to ask yourself whether you value convenience or security.
here's how each works and who each is best for:
- hardware wallet (cold storage)
a physical device that keeps your crypto's private keys offline. you own your coins wholly, and it's virtually impossible to hack. no risk of an exchange going down.
that said, with great power comes great responsibility: if you lose your seed phrase, your crypto is gone forever. (there's no customer support to help you!).
best if you value security and don't trade frequently or need constant access to your funds.
- exchange (hot storage)
accessed via apps or online, instantly accessible for trading and moving funds, but vulnerable to digital hacks, phishing, and exchange collapse.
best if you value convenience and want to access your funds frequently. https://x.com/dom_kwok/status/2108646733483803090
