# protocol exploit — X 热门讨论 (2026-10-02 01:41 UTC)

## @the_LisaLoveCat (SpicyMangos 🌶️) · 10-01 22:00 · ♥27 ↻7 💬6 Did you know NEAR Protocol once had an official mascot named NearKat?

It was a cute, furry, bright-eyed meerkat ☺️💚

Then, in 2021, NearKat disappeared with NEAR’s rebrand 😱— BUT the community never forgot!

NEAR enthusiasts kept with the nostalgia, continuing to embrace the NearKat lore and the belief that it was the true mascot of NEAR.

We'd always see it mentioned and talked about in forums and crypto Twitter, etc, and it kind of became a cult classic within the NEAR community. Nearkat lived on in the degen's hearts 😅💚

Now, in 2026, with the explosion of the Stonk ecosystem, and the ability to pair meme coins with crypto assets, among others, we have the RE-birth and explosion of the solana:6UtY9iTZMQQ5QZVrbzFnNaJntV7oySm9k97mvwnuZcxr token, which yields NEAR just by holding🔥

In addition, NEAR has been ON FIRE these past couple months, up ~180%, essentially outperforming all other top 20 Alt coins over the same period.

A signal for what's to come if this Bull market really pops off...

Finally, I want to note a small elephant in the room, there was a very small exploit a couple days ago of 3.8m. It's important to know this was on a bridge to NEAR, and not NEAR itself.

3.8m is TINY for a bridge exploit, and it was patched in only 1 hour time. Buy the blood.

I fully believe this is a perfect time to add NEAR, as well as the huge upside on the meme coin solana:6UtY9iTZMQQ5QZVrbzFnNaJntV7oySm9k97mvwnuZcxr , if you are in fact betting on the Bull to continue much higherrr, as I am. 💚💚💚✊🔥 https://x.com/the_LisaLoveCat/status/2105780020161749462

## @paperX_Art (paperX | THORSwap & Metro.exchange) · 10-01 16:08 · ♥21 ↻2 💬2 Not sure I agree with takes like this tbh.

@Near_Intents is an DeFi app, not a general L1 network. In the age of increasing AI-powered attacks, the best way to protect users should be to halt often and halt as fast as possible out of an abundance of caution.

@THORChain gets a lot of flack for halting for protocol security but the approach where any single Node can temporarily halt to investigate anything suspicious is the correct way IMO.

In 2026, DeFi that serves users shouldn’t be operating on pure “code is law” vibes anymore. we should no longer be building systems that simply watch Rome burn without safeguards to do anything to stop the fire.

During @THORSwap & @MetroXchange’s security incident earlier this week, precise safeguards designed for such scenarios were activated ASAP, helping to identify+fix the exploit in less than an hour. Ultimately significantly minimizing potential losses for our users.

That being said, I do feel for NEAR Intents users who had funds stuck inside while the protocol is halted. It never feels good to lose access to self-custodial assets. This is why we integrate NEAR Intents as 1-click flow via @SwapKitPowered on THORSwap and Metro.

I truly believe wallet-to-wallet flow AKA only using near intents for the swap itself, represents the smallest in-flight window for funds being at risk. This is the same UX we’ve built to serve billions in volume since 2021 and will continue to do so as much as we can across different product segments.

That being said, NEAR Intents’ response time to this incident is incredible and I’m super glad to see the strong commitment for users to be made whole and the service up and running again already.

The attacks won’t stop coming, builders should stick together - to ultimately serve users (even if we may disagree on who and how).

Still bullish on the future of Onchain finance. Onwards! > 引用 @codephobic: When a decentralised service gets shutdown by a switch, you know it’s all a show. https://x.com/paperX_Art/status/2105691318366425118
