it pays 23% APY and the wild part is the yield isn't a reward for taking more risk. it shows up exactly when the system is most backed.
but for all its sophistication, you should still understand what you're holding
why it works so well eHYUSD is staked hyUSD. hyUSD sits on SOL/BTC/HYPE collateral but its claim stays fixed near $1. the leveraged side (xASSETs) absorbs all the price swings to hold that peg. when collateral climbs past a 165% ratio, the protocol needs capital to re-lever, so it lifts the borrow rate up to 2x. that extra rate flows straight to eHYUSD holders.
so you earn the most precisely when hyUSD is best backed. the incentives line up instead of fighting each other. that's the clever part.
what you're actually holding eHYUSD holders are the system's stability layer. calm markets → you earn the yield.
the backstop only kicks in if the protocol fails to liquidate collateral to USDC in time and the ratio falls below 100% then hyUSD gets burned to recollateralize the pool. the system is built specifically to minimize that scenario, so it's the last resort, not the first.
team's own stress test: a 50% collateral crash = ~0.5% loss to the pool. low, because the max discount is capped and socialized. that's a strong number.
