## @RaajendraGuupta (Raajendra Guupta) · 09-19 19:03 · ♥32 ↻6 💬1 HMDS & Semiconductor Exposure — One-Page Report
1. Company Overview
Chemcon Speciality Chemicals Ltd. (NSE: CHEMCON) is an Indian specialty-chemicals manufacturer with operations covering pharmaceutical intermediates, silanes and oilfield chemicals. The company manufactures HMDS (Hexamethyldisilazane), giving it a direct connection with the semiconductor/photoresist chemical value chain.
2. What is HMDS?
HMDS is a specialised organosilicon chemical used in semiconductor manufacturing and other applications. In semiconductor lithography, HMDS is applied to the wafer surface before photoresist coating. Its primary role is to improve photoresist adhesion to the wafer surface.
In simple terms:
Silicon Wafer → HMDS Treatment → Photoresist → Lithography/Light Exposure → Circuit Pattern
HMDS is therefore an upstream process chemical, rather than a semiconductor chip or device itself.
3. Why HMDS Matters for Semiconductors
As semiconductor manufacturing becomes more advanced, the requirement for high-purity process chemicals becomes increasingly important. HMDS helps create a reliable interface between the wafer surface and photoresist, supporting consistent lithography processing.
Chemcon's HMDS exposure therefore provides a specialty-chemical entry point into the semiconductor ecosystem.
4. Chemcon's HMDS Position
Chemcon has identified HMDS as part of its organic-chemicals portfolio and has highlighted its use in photoresist/semiconductor applications. Company materials have also described Chemcon as India's only manufacturer of HMDS based on the industry information cited by the company.
However, Chemcon is not a pure semiconductor company. HMDS is one product within a diversified specialty-chemicals portfolio that also includes pharmaceutical intermediates and bromine-based chemicals.
5. Financial Snapshot
- FY25 Revenue: approximately ₹207 crore - FY25 PAT: approximately ₹24 crore - Q1 FY26 Revenue: approximately ₹54 crore - Key Organic Chemicals: HMDS, CMIC, Bromobenzene and 2-Bromo
6. Key Investment Factors to Monitor
HMDS volume growth • High-purity customer approvals • New capacity • Capacity utilisation • Organic-chemical revenue • EBITDA/PAT margins • Export growth • Semiconductor customer diversification
7. Key Risks
HMDS remains a specialised product within a diversified business. Actual HMDS revenue contribution, customer qualification, pricing, capacity utilisation and margins are therefore more important than simply assuming that semiconductor-industry growth will translate directly into Chemcon's earnings. Competitive pressure and global chemical pricing can also affect profitability.
Bottom Line
Chemcon provides a genuine listed Indian exposure to HMDS, a chemical used in semiconductor/photoresist processing. The company could benefit from increasing demand for specialised chemicals if it successfully expands high-purity HMDS production, customer approvals and volumes. Nevertheless, Chemcon should be viewed as a diversified specialty-chemicals company with semiconductor exposure, not as a pure-play semiconductor company.

The constraint is still supply. Cloud capex in the bank’s set rises from $491 billion in 2025 to $954 billion in 2026, then $1.405 trillion, $1.548 trillion, $1.547 trillion and $1.661 trillion through 2030.
Hyperscaler revenue growth peaked at 69% year on year. Operating profit growth hit 65%. Both are cooling. Both are still high.
Accelerator units go from 10.1 million in 2025 to 16.3 million in 2026, 25.2 million in 2027 and 30.9 million in 2028. $NVDA NVIDIA GPUs stay the biggest single line: 8.9 million, then 10.0 million, then 11.6 million. $GOOG Google TPUs jump from 4.4 million to 11.6 million. Custom parts at AWS, Meta and Microsoft accelerate with them.
ASIC and XPU share of units dips to 32% in 2025, then 41%, 54% and 55% by 2028. ASIC units overtake GPU units around 2027–28. $AVGO Broadcom sits across Google, Meta, OpenAI, SoftBank and Arm, with Anthropic still in the mix.
Networking is the next bind. Tomahawk 6 is already sold out for calendar 2027.
WFE is modeled plus 31% in 2026 and plus 38% in 2027 on TSMC N2 and N3, HBM and DRAM.
Cleanrooms are now called the main physical cap.
NVIDIA trades at 15.8 times next-twelve-month earnings, under its mid-range history. Broadcom at 18.6 times.
Semis crowding spiked after 2025 and has eased. https://x.com/SemiconductorsX/status/2101379832919826695
