Lossy compression: smallest file while keeping the look
Lossy GIF compression removes detail most people will not notice at normal viewing size. It usually helps most on video-like GIFs with texture, shadows, and gradients. The tradeoff is speckling or banding if you push too far. Start with quality first, preview the result, and switch to size first only when the file still misses your limit.
