Gears of War: E-Day final PC specs assume upscaling even at 1080p

The Coalition has published the final PC system requirements for Gears of War: E-Day ahead of its October 6 release. The new specifications now include performance targets for 1080p, 1440p and 4K, as well as a new Ultra configuration. All three targets use DLSS, FSR, TSR or XeSS upscaling. XBOX Wire

We already covered the preliminary requirements in June, when the Steam listing named the GeForce RTX 2060 and Radeon RX 6600 among the minimum GPUs. Those requirements did not explain what resolution, graphics preset or frame rate these configurations were intended to deliver. The final specifications now confirm that the minimum hardware targets 1080p at 60 FPS using the Medium preset.

RTX 5070 Ti or RX 7900 XT for 4K

The Ultra configuration is substantially heavier. The Coalition lists the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti or Radeon RX 7900 XT alongside a Ryzen 7 7800X3D or Core i7-14700K for 4K at 60 FPS or higher. This target still assumes super-resolution is enabled, so the table does not represent native 4K rendering. The recommended 1440p High configuration drops to an RTX 5060, RTX 3060 Ti, RX 9060 XT or RX 6700 XT.

Hardware ray tracing GPU required

The Coalition says a GPU with dedicated hardware ray tracing support is required, and graphics cards without it are not supported. The game uses hardware ray-traced reflections, shadows and global illumination. It will also launch with NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR 4 and Intel XeSS 3.0, alongside HDR, ultrawide support and a built-in benchmark.

Interestingly, Intel GPUs have disappeared from the final specification table. The earlier requirements listed the Arc A580 at minimum and Arc B580 as recommended, while the new table only names NVIDIA and AMD GPUs. Intel XeSS 3.0 is still officially supported, so this should not be interpreted as confirmation that Arc GPUs are unsupported. Storage has also dropped from the previously listed 130GB to 115GB, although an SSD remains mandatory.

Gears of War: E-Day has now gone gold. Pre-installation begins September 29, with Premium Edition early access starting October 1 and the full launch scheduled for October 6 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Steam.
