Half Moon Bay’s Flock license plate reader program will end Oct. 28 after a majority of city council members voiced opposition to extending the city’s contract with Flock Safety during an update on the program Tuesday night. Council members cited concerns about the company, data privacy and public trust in the technology.
City staff said the council’s majority consensus would lead them to begin winding down the program ahead of the contract’s expiration, although the council did not take a formal vote on the item.
