Amazon's October Prime Day is still more than a week away, but early Prime Day deals on tech gadgets and gear are already popping up. As a Yahoo Senior Tech Writer, I thought I'd gather said discounts here in one convenient place for anyone who doesn't feel like waiting for October 6 and 7 to hit. To be sure, more tech deals will absolutely arrive as we get closer to the sale, so I'll be updating this list each day until Prime Big Deals Days is here. If you're in the market for a new TV, some charging gear or even a pair of AirPods, this is the place to find the best early Prime Day deals on tech devices and accessories.
The best Prime Day deals on Apple
With the recent introduction of the iPhone Duo and the iPhone 18 Pro, Apple also introduced its latest model of earbuds, the AirPods 5. That means the AirPods 4 are no longer in Apple's official lineup. But Amazon still has them in stock, and for less than you'll pay for the newest model.
These "open ear" buds don't insert into your ear canal like the AirPods Pro, which some people find more comfortable. They support spatial audio, improved phone call quality and hands-free access to Siri — including shaking your head yes or no to accept or decline calls.
These infinitely useful little trackers will help make sure you don't lose your keys, wallet, bag or jacket ever again (though you may need an accessory to attach them to your stuff).
This is the second generation of Apple's Bluetooth tracker. This time around, the ring is louder and the range is longer. Check out Yahoo's second-gen AirTag review for more.
Best Prime Day TV deals
If you've got an older TV that's still got a good-looking screen but the operating system isn't your favorite, a streaming stick could be what saves it. This Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K select is down to just $20, which is half-off its new retail price. (If you didn't hear, all Amazon Fire TV sticks jumped up in price in response to the computer memory shortage brought on by the AI boom.)
Right now the 4K Select is just $2 more than the cheapest Fire TV stick, but it gives you better resolution. Important if the TV you're hooking up has a 4K screen. The Select model doesn't have a few features like Dolby Vision and it operates on the Wi-Fi 5 protocol instead of Wi-Fi 6. But those are minor factors if you're just looking for a more reliable interface for an aging set (or if you just want a stick to use while you travel so you can watch your shows instead of whatever's on the Airbnb TV).
Amazon's own line of TVs combines the Fire TV interface that dozens of other manufacturers use with extra features like Amazon's "Ambient Experience" that shows art on the screen when you're nearby but not actively watching TV. The AI-enhanced Alexa+ can help you find shows, make watching suggestions and answer your cinematic trivia questions. It can even control your smart home devices just like an Echo speaker.
This model has an HD screen, not 4K, but since it's a smaller, 40-inch model, the resolution is still fairly sharp at reasonable distances. It has a snappy quad-core processor to make apps open quickly and respond instantly.
This is probably the most popular version of the suddenly everywhere "art TVs." I have one myself and can't tell you the number of times a guest has asked where our TV was. When I point to the framed abstract painting on the wall, they're always surprised. It has a super slim, flush mount design (the secret is putting the power cable, input plugs and the computer unit in a separate box connected by a single wire that's easily hidden, either in the wall or, my method, artfully behind a plant.
This newer model has an even more realistic screen with a glare-free finish that better mimics an artwork. You also get a 4K QLED picture, Dolby Atmos sound and a satisfying operating system from Samsung's Tizen TV OS. The only downside to the Frame model is it tends to be a little more expensive than other QLED TVs in its size range. But this Prime Day discount solves that issue.
Amazon's most affordable Fire TV Stick is an easy way to add a fast, familiar streaming interface to an older HD TV. It even has Alexa built into the remote for quick voice searches. If you don't need 4K resolution (because the TV you plan to use is HD) then there's little reason to spend more.
This top-selling 50-inch 4K TV is a standout. For just $160 you get everything most viewers need: a manageable size, impressive picture quality and all the apps, shows and movies that the Fire TV platform brings to the table. Our own TV expert, Chris McGraw, tested a larger version of the F50 series TV and came away impressed with the value. This 50-inch version is perfect for smaller rooms or limited wall space like a game room or the kitchen.
The best Prime Day deals on tech under $50
This charger is as cute as it is useful. There's a little display that'll tell you how much charge it's delivering as well as which iPhone or iPad you have plugged in. It even has a Care Mode for overnight charging that lowers the charging speed and resulting temperature to extend the life of your phone's battery. It's a top pick in our fast charger guide as well as our guide to wireless charging.
This clever little MagSafe accessory is both a two-card wallet and a phone stand (for either landscape or portrait viewing). I have one on my phone right now and I love it. It's made from a durable vegan leather that hasn't given out on me in more than two years of constant use.
It'll snap on magnetically and quickly to any iPhone (series 12 or later, but not the Duo) or an Android phone with a magnetic case.
Hate traveling with a snarl of wires and cables? This pouch will keep your chargers, cables, earbuds and power banks neatly stowed in its series of elasticized pockets. There are three compartments that zip up into a neat, packable rectangle. The exterior fabric is even water-resistant to keep your gear protected.
This clever stand folds flat against your iPhone when not in use and pops up into a tripod with multiple configurations. It's made from a durable vegan leather and comes in a slew of colors. It snaps on securely and snaps off easily from any MagSafe iPhone 12 or newer, Google Pixel 10 or another Android phone with a magnetic case.
Yahoo Tech Deputy Editor Valentina Palladinorecommends wireless chargers for ease of use, and this one can refill three devices at once. Lean your phone against the vertical panel, rest your AirPods case on the base behind it and loop your Apple Watch around the top.
It's best for overnight charges (the combined 18 watts isn't enough for quick charges). You'll also need to make sure you position your iPhone correctly, as it's not a MagSafe charging pad. But if you need something to keep things neat on your bedside table, you can't beat the price.
This little guy features three USB ports and a braided finger strap that's also a USB-C cord, so you always have one with you. Perhaps most impressive of all, it's backed by a three-year warranty. That might be the fruit of Iniu's 15-layer protection system, which promises to guard against overcharging, under-charging, high temperatures and more.
Iniu makes surprisingly compact power banks. I have the 25,000mAh version and am amazed at how much it can refill from its tiny size. I don't know how they stuff all the ions in there, but this 20,000mAh bank has enough capacity and output to handle power-hungry devices like tablets and laptops, while still being compact enough to keep in an emergency kit. Keep it charged and you'll get multiple phone refills out of it, too. While the idea is you pop it in your pack and always have a charge when you're out and about, I mostly use my large power banks for refilling my iPad while I use it without having to be tethered to an outlet.
The best Prime Day headphone and speaker deals
This tiny-but-mighty sound maker is a pick from our roundup of lovable tech that's under $50. If you get two of these speakers, you can pair them for immersive stereo sound. They can withstand splashes and go for 24 hours on a charge, and the 12-watt drivers are enhanced with Anker's BassUp technology that creates deeper low notes from a surprisingly compact package.
Our reviewer was surprised with all you get with these affordable earbuds, saying they offer "a fit as comfortable as any earbuds I've tried, nearly all the features I want, a legit-great app and delightful bass-forward sound." The noise cancellation also performed better than expected.
The Quiet Comfort series of headphones from Bose has a well-deserved reputation for delivering the best noise cancellation. If you're traveling, trying to get some work done in a noisy environment or just want to turn off the clamor of the world at large, these should be on your list. This model is a couple of years old but still packs plenty of high-end features, including multi-point connections that let you switch between devices and an Awareness mode that lets you listen to your music while hearing the world around you.
The best Prime Day smart home deals
This is Amazon's most popular Echo device. I have one myself and my family uses it multiple times per day to ask about the weather, turn on our lights, add items to our several shopping lists and to get bits of trivia, like how much houses cost in the 1800s.
Since Amazon upped the prices on its Echo, Fire TV and other in-house devices, it's an even better idea to wait for Prime Day to buy your next Echo speaker. And right now it's half-price and down to just $40, about $10 cheaper than its original price.
This is the newest model of the Ring Battery Doorbell, and it comes with an indoor cam. It doesn't need to be wired into your wall, so you have more flexibility on where to put it. It shoots 2K resolution video and has up to a 6x zoom. There's a two-way speaker and microphone so you can hear and speak to whoever comes to your door. Just note that you'll need a Ring Protect subscription to save clips and use the AI-enhanced person detection.
Video doorbells are great, but what about when you forget your keys and no one else is home? How about when you want to let the pet sitter in remotely? This smart lock makes all that a snap, and you can use it four ways: Via traditional keys, a passcode, a phone app or voice control (it's compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant). You can even set up a temporary password for that aforementioned pet sitter.
If you have Amazon Prime, you'll get free shipping, of course. Not yet a member? No problem. You can sign up for your free 30-day trial here. (And by the way, those without Prime still get free shipping on orders of $35 or more.)
