# HBM demand — X 热门讨论 (2026-10-09 14:37 UTC)

## @damnang2 (Damnang) · 10-09 07:45 · ♥30 ↻2 💬5 HBF promises HBM-like bandwidth and SSD-like capacity. But who will actually use it, and where does it belong in an AI system?

@PhotonCap's latest article takes a closer look at those questions, drawing on firsthand discussions at the SK hynix Global Forum. Standards and consortium activity are moving forward, but the conversations he heard on site were more cautious. Customers still appear to be working out how to use HBF, and a clear killer application has yet to emerge.

One particularly interesting detail: the view that HBF belongs “in the box rather than the rack” came from within Sandisk’s own advisory circle. More capacity alone does not settle the tradeoffs around bandwidth, software support, and NAND endurance.

He then connects HBF, microLED optical links, and Micron’s NVHBM through a question that deserves more attention: how should these technologies compete for the limited space along the SoC edge?

What I especially appreciated is his willingness to revisit his January thesis that HBF could bring optical interconnect demand forward. This is a thoughtful look at the gap between a promising technology and a system customers are ready to adopt. Well worth reading if you follow memory, packaging, or optics. > 引用 @PhotonCap: SK hynix’s HBF and microLED: Who Gets the Land on the SoC Edge? https://x.com/damnang2/status/2108463934185652629
