PANews reported on September 30, citing CoinDesk, that OpenAI, Google, Meta, Anthropic, Nvidia and xAI signed a White House AI safety agreement on September 29, committing to monitor risks of frontier models in cybersecurity, biosecurity and chemical threats, have internal teams inspect and fix issues, bring in independent external agencies to assess safety controls, and be overseen by an independent committee of the board of directors. The agreement is a voluntary commitment with no implementation deadline or penalties for breach, and the auditing agencies are chosen by the companies themselves.
