On 24 September 2026, Bitget’s own hot and warm wallets sent about $387.5 million to an attacker. CEO Gracy Chen said the private keys were not stolen. A compromised backend spoofed withdrawal data and Bitget’s own authorization process signed the transfers. About $228 million left in 18 minutes. Largest crypto theft of 2026 so far. Exchange wallets were the blast radius. Bybit lost about $1.4 billion in February 2025. Attackers drained roughly 401,000 ETH from Safe multisig wallets. Users did not lose coins because Bitcoin failed. They lost them because someone else could approve the transfer. Coldcard was supposed to be the opposite: hardware, air-gapped, “not your keys, not your coins.” In July–August 2026 a seed-generation flaw let attackers sweep wallets anyway. Galaxy tracked about 1,780 BTC, roughly $112–130 million, across thousands of addresses. One user kept a device in a bank box, never online, and still lost 18.25 BTC in minutes. Hardware did not save the entropy. Same family of failure everywhere else. Ronin, about $625 million, validator keys. Wormhole, about $320 million, a verification miss. Kelp DAO, about $292 million, a bridge in April 2026. Ledger Connect Kit. Atomic Wallet. Infinite approvals. New logo, same hole: a key, a signer, or a process that can be touched. PureWallet is the cure already in the field, not a white paper. Offline mobile cold storage. No hardware dongle to trust. Keys stay on the device. Move value as Offline Tokens over Bluetooth, NFC, or QR, gas-free, air-gapped, no bridge in the middle. Privacy and security are the same system. If the key never touches the network, there is nothing to phish, nothing to spoof, nothing for a compromised signer to approve. ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27003 are done. IEEE-aligned controls are done. You can debate frameworks forever. This one is deployed. For exchanges and fintechs: stop holding the blast radius. White-label PureWallet as the self-custody and offline settlement layer an all-in-one wallet your users actually hold, while you keep the rails. Security that cannot be separated from privacy is the product the big players have been missing. Bitget proved it this week. Bybit proved exchange wallets are a target. Coldcard proved hardware is not a cure. Talk is cheap. The exploit list is not. The wallet is live. #PureWallet #OfflineCrypto #SelfCustody #ISO27001 #ISO27003 #Bitget #Bybit #Coldcard #WalletSecurity #CryptoSecurity #WhiteLabel #AirGap #NotYourKeys #Web3 #Privacy https://x.com/LarryPureLabs/status/2104483554919174406
