@reapglobal was bought this summer for $600M by the parent company of @krakenfx. Now it is teaming up with @Visa so fintechs and businesses can launch Visa credit cards funded with stablecoins. Until now Reap cards ran in Asia and Latin America, next come Europe, the Middle East and Africa
- Stablecoins fund the card and back it as collateral, and the balance can be paid back in stablecoins - In Asia Pacific Reap settles with Visa directly in stablecoins, weekends included, so programs need less money parked upfront - There is no Reap card for people. Its own card is for companies, so the card you get will carry another brand's name - Reap has its own Visa membership in Hong Kong and Mexico, Europe opens through the EU licenses of the Kraken group - 100+ markets is the reach of the deal, not live cards. Every country still needs a program that passes local rules - Cards in more currencies and payments made by AI agents are still only plans
Reap counts 2M+ cards issued and lists @RedotPay, @KASTxyz and @ether_fi as clients. The group behind @Krak now also serves the cards that compete with it
