## @ChemistDeFi (Chemist 🧪) · 10-09 07:20 · ♥44 ↻9 💬45 Q3 2026 was a price quarter, not a capital quarter.

$BTC did +42.7%, its best Q3 since 2017. $ETH did +70.8%. On the surface, crypto is back.

But look at the bid. $BTC spot ETFs took in $6.34B this quarter, less than the $7.8B of Q3 2025. Cumulative flows are still ~$5B under last October's peak.

Onchain says the same thing. DeFi TVL went from $69.2B to $95.4B, +38%. Sounds great until you remember $ETH did +71% in the same window.

Most of that is mark-to-market, not new deposits. The cleanest tell is stablecoins: $309.6B to $311.6B, +0.7% in a quarter where $BTC ran 43%.

No new dollars came onchain.

What did grow is usage. DEX volume +13% to $722B, protocol fees +15% to $5.88B. Tokenized RWAs +23% to $38.6B, imo the one bucket where fresh capital actually showed up.

Perps went the other way. Perp DEX volume fell 11% to $1.62T.

@HyperliquidX grew its share from 34.2% to 37.3% and still earned less: ~$185M in fees vs ~$202M in Q2 and $457M a year ago. A bigger slice of a shrinking pie doesn't fund the buyback.

Security is the part I'd watch. Hacks hit $1.25B, ~3.9x Q3 2025.

But strip out CEX and custody incidents and onchain losses fell 13% QoQ to $701M. The weak point moved from contracts to keys.

So: price ran, usage grew, capital mostly stayed home.

Q4 answers one question. Does the money follow the price, or does the price come back to the money?

Of course, these are quarter-end snapshots and trackers disagree by a few %. https://x.com/ChemistDeFi/status/2108457511946743939

## @Gold_Cryptoz (Gold) · 10-09 03:08 · ♥42 ↻0 💬9 After 10 years $BAT is in the process of giving its token a purpose. 120+ million people use their browser, but the token was largely neglected.

Roadmap 4.0 aims to push BAT from ads into everyday payments, wallets, AI, and commerce.

In July they released their roadmap and vision:

- Brave Rewards Card: virtual and physical, powered by BravePay and GENIUS-compliant stablecoins. Users earn BAT on eligible everyday purchases, plus exclusive offers. Works in Brave Wallet and other major digital wallets.

The waitlist opened in August and as of October 6th they had 186K+ signups on the waitlist. This far outpaces the level of interest in ETHFI and it's on par with Plasma which received 100k in the first months.

- A percentage of net revenue from wallet features (swaps, bridging, on/off-ramps, .brave domains), the Rewards Card, and BravePay is earmarked for $BAT buybacks that feed user rewards, creator payouts, and the User Growth Pool.

- Unified Brave Wallet: saved cards, self-custody multi-chain crypto, Brave Rewards, and BravePay in one browser-native interface

BAT is also fully diluted, no more unlocks coming. The Waitlist for the card opened in August, it's already been opened for 2 months.

It ticks every box for me and it seems extremely quiet on the TL. I think this is a swing hold. https://x.com/Gold_Cryptoz/status/2108394050047148533
