CEX: KYC, but users give up custody. DEX: Self-custody, but usually little or no identity layer.
Pi is moving toward a different model:
KYC + Self-Custody + P2P + On-chain Trading
Pi Wallet keeps assets under the user’s control, while the broader Pi ecosystem places strong emphasis on verified identity and controlled access.
That may feel more centralized than a typical DEX.
But in the coming RWA and Security Token era, that could become an advantage rather than a weakness.
Real-world assets often require: • Verified identity • Compliance • Investor eligibility • Transfer restrictions • Permissioned access
This is exactly where a KYC-enabled, self-custodial blockchain ecosystem could become powerful.
Pi may not be trying to become another Uniswap or Binance.
It may be building something in between.
And that hybrid model could shine brightest when RWA goes mainstream.
