If your AI wallet reads token data, that's 263,000 strings an attacker gets to write into its context.
@blockaid_ flagged it this week: prompt injections can hide inside token names, symbols and descriptions. The metadata is the payload.
This has already moved past theory ↓
- May 4: a Morse code prompt on X got grok and bankrbot to send 3B $DRB, reported at ~$150K to $215K - Sept 14: Blockaid's staged demo had an exchange agent approve an unlimited allowance via token metadata - Public GitHub PoC: a malicious ERC20 name() gets an agent on @okx OnchainOS CLI to sign approve(attacker, max)
The PoC detail that stuck with me: that codebase sanitizes social feed text, but passes token metadata straight into the LLM's context.
→ Tweets get treated as untrusted → Onchain data gets treated as fact → But anyone can deploy a token and name it whatever they want
Per the PoC, nothing in the CLI or the TEE signing layer inspected that approval either.
To me, the fix doesn't live in a smarter model. It lives below it: no unlimited approvals, hard spend caps, simulation before every signature.
@MetaMask already routes AI agent wallet txs through Blockaid checks. The open question is how many DIY agent stacks do anything similar.
