PANews reported on October 1, citing Cointelegraph, that the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has proposed expanding the scope of the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) rules to bring DeFi entry points, staking and crypto lending services into the regulatory framework.
In addition, ESMA also suggested strengthening restrictive measures involving unauthorized stablecoin services to further regulate the EU crypto-asset market. The relevant proposals are still at the regulatory discussion stage and may subsequently affect the business models and compliance requirements of crypto service providers in the EU.
