## @USronaldcarter (🇺🇸 Ronald Carter) · 09-16 22:03 · ♥34 ↻3 💬9 Bond yields are rising. People are nervous. And the same accounts are calling for another 2008.
I think they are underestimating the biggest force behind this cycle.
AI.
The U.S. sees AI leadership as a matter of economic power and national security. That is already part of its official strategy.
Think about what that means.
Winning requires chips. Those chips require data centers. Those data centers require electricity. And building all of that requires huge amounts of money.
My view is that America will keep pushing to fund this race because falling behind could cost far more than continuing to spend.
Companies face the same pressure. Every major player has to consider what happens if a competitor builds something that changes its entire business.
That creates a powerful reason to keep investing, even when the economy looks uncomfortable.
Higher yields still matter. Expensive stocks can still crash. But a rising bond yield alone does not tell you that another 2008 is coming.
And an index near record highs does not mean every company or every household is doing well.
A huge technological shift can happen inside an uneven economy.
I expect more investment, more pressure to remove obstacles, and more competition for the infrastructure behind AI.
There will be setbacks. There will be companies that waste billions.
But I think people calling the entire cycle finished are underestimating how much is still being built.
Nobody knows where this ends.
My bet is that the AI race has much further to run. https://x.com/USronaldcarter/status/2100344856967324132
