We have carried out detailed benchmarking of the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX series graphics accelerators and AMD Radeon RX in the flight simulator Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. The project is developed using a modern graphics engine. Unreal Engine 5 using Nanite virtualized geometry systems and Lumen global illumination. Hardware testing was conducted on our benchmark platform running the operating system Windows 11 24H2 with DirectX 12 graphics API. To eliminate the influence of the processor on the final results, the stand was equipped with a high-performance chip AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3DWe benchmarked all video cards at maximum detail settings in a native resolution of 3840×2160 without scaling.

In native 4K mode, the game puts extreme strain on graphics cards. The only model to break the comfortable 60 fps barrier was the flagship GeForce RTX 5090, with 54 minimum and 60 average frames. Second place went to the previous-generation GeForce model. RTX 4090, which showed 44 frames for rare events and 48 frames on average. Mid-range models can't handle heavy workloads: for example, GeForce RTX 30The 60 only produces 10 minimum and 12 average frames, while the popular GeForce RTX 4070 maintains an average of only 22 frames.

The main result of our benchmarks was the performance of AMD's previous-generation flagship. The graphics card Radeon RX 7900 XTX showed 33 minimum and 37 average frames per second, coming very close to the new GeForce RTX 5080, which scored 35 and 38 frames, respectively. The gap between them was only one frame. Furthermore, Radeon RX 7900 XTX on the RDNA 3 architecture confidently outperformed the latest model Radeon RX 9070 XT Based on the RDNA 4 architecture, it achieved 29 minimum and 32 average frames. AMD's flagship also outperformed both versions of the GeForce RTX 4080, which recorded 36 average frames per second.
