what makes a robot trust one piece of data over another?
the photo alone isn't enough.
it needs a way to prove where that observation came from.
that's the interesting part of vangrid's pipeline.
→ every capture gets hashed
→ those hashes get grouped into a merkle tree
→ the root gets anchored through Ethereum Attestation Service on Base
and that changes what the network is actually doing.
the explorer doesn't just show activity.
it gives each capture a trail.
→ capture hash
→ contributor wallet
→ merkle proof
→ onchain attestation
if the underlying file changes, the fingerprint changes too.
the proof stops matching.
that's why i don't think the blockchain part is just there for decoration.
fresh captures tell a machine what's there.
provenance tells it whether that observation is something it can actually trust.
for physical ai, reality doesn't just need more data.
