What file formats does CostRift support?
CSV and XLSX. Drop in your previous and current supplier price lists from emails, downloads, or supplier portals.
Do my supplier files leave my browser?
No. Supplier price lists are processed locally in your browser and are never uploaded to CostRift servers. No account is needed.
Do I need selling prices?
No. Comparing costs works with just SKU and cost columns. Adding selling prices unlocks margin impact and target selling price calculations.
How does CostRift match SKUs?
Products are matched by SKU. CostRift first tries the SKU exactly as written in each list; if there is no clean match, it retries with a normalization that trims outer whitespace and ignores ASCII letter case (for example sku-123 and SKU-123). When a clean match is not possible, the rows are left unresolved for review — nothing is guessed.
What happens with duplicate or ambiguous SKUs?
Rows with duplicate or ambiguous SKUs are not paired arbitrarily. They stay unresolved and are flagged in the results for you to review.
Can the two files use different column names?
Yes. The previous and current lists are mapped independently, so the SKU, cost, and selling price columns can be named differently in each file.
Can I compare price lists from different suppliers?
CostRift is designed to compare an older and a newer price list from the same supplier. Comparing unrelated supplier catalogs can produce misleading matches, because SKUs and product definitions can differ.
