## @hughhewitt (Hugh Hewitt) · 09-28 19:15 · ♥33 ↻10 💬11 Data centers have gone into the business of sharing their revenue with the communities in which they want to build --whether its $10K for every household in a township in PA or $50K for every teacher in a Louisiana parish.
So where is the federal government? Why has Congress not decided that data centers require compliance with federal standards and they get that when they agree to pay an annual tax to the feds --one which should go into a sinking fund to handle the $40 trillion debt via a sinking fund. Like Pitt the Younger's sinking fund from 1786, when Great Britain was burdened by an enormous national debt, the revenues from data centers going into the new Sinking Fund would go to independent commissioners who are charged with investing the revenue to the end of paying off the debt.
This doesn't eliminate the need for entitlement reforms of the common sense sort, phased in over 20-30 years. But given that every data center benefits from the national rule of law and the national defense, and that they are handing out revenue benefits to some taxpayers and some public employees, the argument for national taxes on this emerging sector of the new economy is very strong. It will campaign first in Texas, Georgia, Ohio, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Indiana and South Carolina, hoping to head off moratoriums.
