Microsoft offers $32 for a 10-year-old MacBook
Microsoft is encouraging MacBook Pro owners to switch to Windows with a new trade-in promotion for its Surface Laptop Ultra. The company is offering up to $1,000 in additional cash back when customers trade in an eligible MacBook Pro and purchase its new RTX Spark-powered laptop.
The offer applies to the Surface Laptop Ultra, which starts at $2,599.99 and features NVIDIA’s RTX Spark processor with an Arm-based CPU and Blackwell GPU. Customers receive their old MacBook Pro’s assessed trade-in value plus a promotional cash bonus. This is not an instant discount at checkout, as payments are processed separately after the old device has been inspected.

Even older Intel MacBooks appear in the trade-in catalog
Microsoft’s trade-in partner, Teladvance, lists a broad selection of eligible MacBook Pro models. The catalog includes Intel-based MacBook Pros dating back to 2016, alongside newer Apple Silicon models with M1, M2, M3, M4 and M5 processors. The list covers 13-inch, 14-inch, 15-inch and 16-inch configurations. However, appearing in the trade-in catalog does not automatically guarantee the maximum promotional payment.
There are several requirements. The MacBook must power on, hold a battery charge and remain fully functional. Devices with cracked screens, liquid damage, missing components or modifications are excluded.
The promotion is available through Microsoft’s online stores in the United States and Canada. Interestingly, you can even trade 10 year old Macbook but do not expect to get a lot for it:
