But the biggest problem is not that the concept is bad. On the contrary, the concept has already shown that the market is willing to accept it to some extent. The issue is that it has not yet formed a real economic flywheel.
CME’s core positioning is Commodity Market Exchange. It is not simply launching “commodity Memes.” Instead, it is trying to bring real-world Commodities such as Gold, Oil, Corn, Wheat, Soybeans, Gas, etc. onto RH Chain and turn them into pairing assets for the Meme market.
A typical Meme Launchpad is:Meme Token ↔ ETH / SOL / Stablecoin
What CME wants to build is:Meme Token ↔ Commodity
So what it is really trying to establish is a Commodity + Meme trading market.
The concept is interesting because it is not simply tokenizing Commodities. It is bringing real-world Commodity prices and Narratives into the Meme market, allowing assets like Gold, Oil, Corn, Wheat, etc. to become the underlying pricing assets for on-chain speculation and Meme trading.
But I think the biggest reason CME has struggled to keep moving higher is:The market already understands the story, but it has not yet seen that story form a strong enough economic flywheel.
CME already has the product, Commodity Assets, Launchpad, Fee Mechanism, and Buyback. What it is still missing is a breakout case that can connect all of these pieces together.
CME’s current mechanism can roughly be understood as:CME Markets Trading Volume ↑ → Platform Fees ↑ → A portion of the revenue is used to Buyback CME → The other portion creates liquidity between CME and Commodity Tokens
So the theoretical flywheel is:CME Volume ↑ → Fees ↑ → Buyback ↑ → CME Supply ↓ → CME Price ↑ → More Creator / Trader Attention → More Token Launches → More Volume
The problem is that this flywheel has not fully started running yet.
One of CME’s biggest problems is that it lacks a First Runner of its own.
Take GSTOCK as an example. GSTOCK became the core asset of Geniusfun not because Geniusfun’s mechanism was particularly complicated, but because:Geniusfun appears → GSTOCK becomes the First Runner → GSTOCK rises → GSTOCK becomes the Face Token of the platform → The market starts researching Geniusfun
CME is currently the opposite:It has a very interesting product and mechanism, but it still does not have a massively successful CME Native Token.
So the market still cannot confirm:Can CME actually create winners?
This is also what I think is CME’s biggest currently unpriced catalyst.
If a CME-launched Token eventually goes:$300K → $3M → $10M+
while generating significant trading volume, the market’s understanding of CME could change very quickly:CME First Runner → Attention → Volume → Fee → Buyback → CME Supply Reduction → CME Price → More Creators → More Markets → More Volume
At that point, CME would truly move from “an interesting concept” to “a Commodity Market that is beginning to form network effects.”
Another issue is the Attention Competition within Robinhood Chain itself.
Early on, the market was asking:“What new things are happening on RH Chain?”
Now it is gradually becoming:“Which project on RH Chain is worth trading today?”
As more Meme, Launchpad, RWA, and Commodity projects appear, CME needs to establish a very clear identity.
It cannot simply be:“Another RH Chain Launchpad.”
It needs to become:“The platform on RH Chain that truly uses Commodities as the Base Assets for the Meme Market.”
That positioning still needs to be continuously validated by the market.
CME also has a product-level challenge:The concept is interesting, but why would users actually need to use it?
For example: Gold Meme Oil Meme Corn Meme Wheat Meme
They sound interesting.
But an ordinary user will still ask:Why should I buy a Meme paired against Corn or Oil?
There is not yet a strong enough market answer to that question.
But if a Commodity itself becomes a major market Narrative in the future, such as Gold, Oil, or another Commodity entering a strong Narrative cycle, Memes built around that asset could in turn bring significant Attention to CME.
That is when CME’s design advantage would truly become visible.
So right now, it is:Infrastructure First
But markets usually prefer:Narrative → Speculation → Volume → Infrastructure
Therefore, CME needs a breakout Commodity + Meme case.
Liquidity is also something worth watching.
CME’s current liquidity is not particularly deep compared with the trading volume it has generated in the past.
This means:High Volume ≠ Deep Liquidity
If a large amount of the trading comes from short-term capital rapidly moving in and out, high trading volume alone does not prove that the platform has established long-term demand.
For a project like CME that needs to build a long-term market, what matters more going forward is:Volume + Liquidity + Fee
All three need to grow together.
CME previously reaching around $15–20M market cap already proved that the market was willing to pay a Narrative Premium for it.
So the problem is not:“The market completely rejects CME.”
It is more like:The market already gave it a Narrative Premium, but there has not been enough new information afterward to continue pushing that Premium higher.
Attention then started flowing toward other projects.
So the catalysts CME really needs now, in order of importance, are:First, CME needs to produce a First Runner.
This is the most important one.
Second, CME platform trading volume needs to truly explode.
If daily Volume moves from the $100K range into $500K, $1M, or even higher, then Buyback will start to have meaningful economic significance.
Third, a Commodity Narrative needs to explode.
One of CME’s biggest advantages is that it is not tied only to Gold. It can cover: Gold Oil Corn Wheat Soybeans Gas Livestock Metals
And it can potentially continue adding more unconventional Commodities.
If a so-called Commodity Season emerges in the future, CME could naturally become the infrastructure that captures that flow.
Fourth, a clearer relationship between CME and the PONS ecosystem could emerge.
Public information shows that CME is built using the Pons V2 mechanism, but it cannot simply be interpreted as CME being an official PONS product.
So for now, I would treat this as a potential catalyst rather than an already-realized Narrative.
Fifth, more trading access and liquidity.
CME has already entered the MEXC Innovation Zone. If it gets more exchange access and deeper liquidity in the future, it could further expand the:Attention → Volume → Liquidity
cycle.
I also think CME has a very interesting long-term Narrative:Commodity-backed Meme Economy
Historically, the main pairing assets for Memes were: ETH SOL BNB Stablecoins
Then we started seeing:Stock Tokens
And CME is now experimenting with:Commodities
In theory, this could create: Gold Meme Oil Meme Corn Meme Wheat Meme Sugar Meme Coffee Meme
This means CME’s real potential Narrative is not:“A commodity Meme Launchpad.”
It is:“Bring the real-world Commodity Market on-chain, and let Memes become the Speculation Layer built around those assets.”
If the market truly adopts this positioning, CME’s Narrative Ceiling could be much higher than that of a normal Launchpad.
But it is still missing the most important thing:Proof of Economic Flywheel.
Right now, we already know: Product exists Commodity Assets exist Launchpad exists Fee Mechanism exists Buyback exists Trading access exists Holders exist
But what is still missing is:More Creators using CME → More Tokens launching → Several leaders emerge → Leaders generate significant Volume → CME Revenue grows rapidly → CME Buyback starts having a meaningful effect
That chain has not fully formed yet.
So right now, I would define CME as:A Commodity Launchpad that has already proven the market is willing to give it a Narrative Premium, but has not yet proven that it can convert that Narrative into sustained economic activity.
What it really lacks right now is not a bigger story, but a catalyst that can connect:Attention → Volume → Revenue → Buyback
And I think that catalyst is most likely not simply adding more Commodities.
It is:CME itself producing a true First Runner.
Going forward, I will focus on six metrics:CME-launched Token count
Whether a $1M / $5M / $10M+ CME Native Leader emerges
CME’s total real platform Volume
CME’s daily Fee / Buyback
Actual usage of Commodity Pairs
Whether CME Liquidity can move from its current relatively low level into the $500K / $1M+ range
If these metrics start growing simultaneously, CME’s market positioning could undergo a genuine upgrade.
If CME’s price and Volume simply rise without new projects, users, and revenue growth, then it is still just a short-term Narrative Rotation.
So my core view is:CME’s “concept” is actually not its biggest risk right now. It is its biggest advantage. What it lacks is a catalyst that can truly turn that concept into Attention → Volume → Revenue → Buyback.
