Games Workshop: New TonePro Paints, Blood Bowl Goblins, Tomb Kings, and More On The Way

Warhammer’s specialist games and hobby supplies are also getting some reveals in today’s big autumn preview.

The Fall Preview had at least a little bit for almost everyone today. Wrapping things up saw a major facelift for the Tomb Kings of Warhammer: The Old World, an expansion for Warhammer Quest: Darkwater, an all-new Blood Bowl team, and maybe most excitingly of all, a massive expansion to the Warhammer hobby paints line.

Tomb Kings

A new box set for Tomb Kings armies reveals no new units, but a ton of new sculpts! When Tomb Kings returned to The Old World, they did so with some suitably ancient models. But this new box will be the first time you can get your hands on a refresh of the army’s most important models.

The core skeleton units of the Tomb Kings army hadn’t been updated in decades, and frankly, they were showing their age. This new set of models includes updated sculpts and kits for the three core units of hosts of Settra. Their release will also be accompanied by a supplement, Arcane Journal: River of Bones.

Blood Bowl – Night Goblins

For the first time, Blood Bowl coaches will be able to field teams entirely composed of Night Goblins and their questionably tamed squigs. Forgoing the secret weapons of standard goblins, Night Goblins focus on their fungal friends to win the day. Four new positionals make up this team’s elite: Cave Squigs. Squig Wranglers. Squig Hoppers, and Squig Herders. The box includes two of each plus six Night Goblin Linemen. Rules for this team will be first released in the upcoming 23rd issue of Spike! Journal.

Warhammer Quest Darkwater: Agents of the Order of Azyr

The first expansion for Warhammer Quest’s latest incarnation is just over the horizon. The Agents of the Order of Azyr are four new heroes who are here to cleanse the Jade Abbey of Nurgle’s foul touch. The band is led by witch hunter Safiya Ashcross, who is followed by the sharpshooter Caul Durnan, drawn from the Wildercorps, Brother Belias, a devout priest of the Great Wheel, and the Bright Wizard Ignus Sharn. The set is accompanied by all the cards necessary to use these heroes in your games of Warhammer Quest: Darkwater.

Warhammer TonePro

Finally, today sees a huge update to the venerable (formerly known as Citadel) Warhammer paint line. TonePro is a range of 150 new paints and promises to offer deeply saturated hues from paints with strong opacity, requiring fewer coats to achieve solid coverage.

The paints are designed around stepped sets of five hues starting with bases and moving up to extreme highlights. A pair of new mediums accompany the set, including a Shading Medium that essentially allows you to make a shade with the properties of a shade like Nuln Oil or Agrax Earthshade from any paint in the range. As well, a blending medium with different opacity will also be included. The Foundation paints themselves promise carefully designed flow properties that leave consistent coverage even when drybrushed.

Unsurprisingly, this leads into a smaller reveal for a new set of Warhammer-branded “makeup” style dry brushes that have become a community favorite over the past decade.

The range will be demoed at Warhammer stores and your FLGS starting next Saturday, 09/26/26.

Do I own enough paints? Probably. Will I buy too many new ones? Almost certainly.
