## @BSCNews (BSCN) · 09-21 16:32 · ♥40 ↻6 💬6 What is Arc's Bitcoin Liquidity that just went live?
Arc Blockchain (@Arc) just made Bitcoin fungible as collateral without requiring holders to exchange it for anything else.
@circle's Wrapped Bitcoin (cirBTC) is live on Arc mainnet, providing a fully fledged, 1:1 BTC-backed financial system native to stablecoins.
Native Bitcoin hasn't been compatible with smart contracts, and that's been an issue.
cirBTC provides the solution: an ERC-20 token that represents native BTC on a 1:1 basis, backed by segregated reserves.
(1) The backer intends the backing to be visible, not merely verifiable.
Circle publishes its reserve balance on-chain via @Chainlink Proof of Reserve, displaying the following:
• BTC reserve addresses on the Bitcoin blockchain • The on-chain reserve feed • The circulation of cirBTC across various networks.
(2) The positioning of cirBTC as a neutral wrapper of $BTC through Circle is important.
Circle does not have an alternative CEX, DEX, or any lending platform that competes with its own platform.
(3) BTC acts as the collateral asset and $USDC as the borrow and settlement asset.
Once cirBTC is minted on Arc, you can lend it out in lending protocols like @Morpho and @Aave.
(4) The access route exists in two different forms.
First, through the Arc Portal, individuals can exchange USDC for cirBTC, or vice versa, by bridging existing cirBTC on the Ethereum blockchain.
Second, eligible Circle Mint customers can engage in Digital Asset-Backed Borrowing by depositing BTC, minting cirBTC, using it as collateral at pre-selected third-party markets, and receiving USDC in their Mint wallets.
Repaying the USDC releases the collateral.
(5) The product is not a yield-bearing or staked BTC derivative.
This makes the product's risk profile more similar to custody and token issuance than to leveraged or restaking products.
However, the cost is what always comes with any wrapped asset: smart contract risk, issuer risk, and the reality that digital assets are not FDIC-insured.
In essence, the novel liquidity for bitcoin at Arc is not a new type of bitcoin.
It is a “regulated issuer” wrapper that lets current BTC act as collateral, inventory, and settlement inventory within an on-chain market already working on USDC. https://x.com/BSCNews/status/2102073374193205566

## @IGWTreport (In Gold We Trust) · 09-21 15:45 · ♥41 ↻5 💬4 The gold you hold earns nothing sitting in a vault.
@tether now lends its own and gets paid for it: its first lease to the owner of JM Bullion ran at 1.75%, when that dealer's bank charged about 6%.
The bullion banks have a new competitor, and it issues stablecoins. https://t.co/ZYebkmD9bQ https://x.com/IGWTreport/status/2102061647603155234
