## @ZeoWeb3 (Zeo) · 09-13 08:45 · ♥72 ↻1 💬72 I’ve been spending more time looking at what actually happens after BTC reaches @Starknet.
At first, strkBTC looked like another way to bring Bitcoin into DeFi.
But the more I followed the flow, the more I realized the interesting part isn’t the bridge itself.
It’s everything that happens after.
You can move BTC from your own wallet onto Starknet as strkBTC without needing to route through a centralized exchange. That already changes the experience because your BTC exposure stays tied to Bitcoin while giving you access to Starknet’s ecosystem.
Then comes the part I think more people should pay attention to: privacy.
Instead of immediately sending your strkBTC into an application and leaving every interaction publicly visible, you can think about the order of operations differently.
Shield first.
Then use the ecosystem.
Then unshield only when you actually need to interact with the public side.
That opens up a completely different way of thinking about the stack.
For example:
→ Shield through wallets like Xverse or Ready → Use private swaps through Avnu → Explore private liquid staking through Endur → Keep the position shielded while using supported applications → Unshield only when a public transaction is actually necessary
The privacy layer isn’t just some nice extra sitting beside the product.
It can change how you approach the entire journey.
And that’s probably what caught my attention most.
A lot of crypto products focus on giving you more things to do with your assets.
But sometimes the bigger improvement is giving you more control over when your activity becomes visible.
That distinction matters.
Of course, I’m not treating this like risk-free yield or free money.
There are still bridge risks, smart contract risks, liquidity risks, BTC price exposure and all the other risks that come with interacting with DeFi. Nothing is guaranteed, and losing funds is always possible.
So I’m taking the boring approach.
No rushing just because a campaign started.
No blindly moving funds around because everyone else is posting about it.
I want to actually understand the flow, test each step carefully, and share what I learn from using it.
For me, the interesting question around strkBTC isn’t simply:
“Can I bring BTC to Starknet?”
It’s:
“What can I do with my BTC while keeping more control over how that activity is exposed?”
That’s the part I’m paying attention to.
If you’re already using strkBTC on @Starknet, I’m curious about your flow.
Did you shield your BTC immediately after bridging, or did you first send your strkBTC into an app while everything was still fully public?
