satellites see roofs. mapping fleets cover roads.
but stairwells, loading bays, market streets, and warehouses need ground-level capture.
that’s the gap @vangrid_io is targeting.
phones become edge nodes that capture multi-view video, blur faces and number plates on-device, then fingerprint each capture with its hash, location, and timestamp.
the raw footage never leaves the phone.
fingerprints are batched into merkle trees every ~15 minutes, with the root attested on base through ethereum attestation service.
that gives buyers a way to verify a file wasn’t altered without trusting vangrid’s word.
winning captures become textured 3d glb models. the requester gets the model while the original footage stays with the contributor.
enterprise teams query the network through a spatial api with provenance hashes and region controls across us-east-1, eu-west-1, and apac-1.
that’s why i like the “data rail” framing.
this isn’t just a marketplace.
data moves through a governed path with sovereignty controls across the node, infrastructure, and api layers.
bounties are funded in usdc on base before capture starts, then released when a requester accepts a submission.
vangrid takes 10%, reconstruction currently costs around $5, and the rest goes to the contributor. rejected or expired work returns to escrow.
the team has previously cited nearly 100,000 verified captures, 200,000 grid events, and 1,300+ batch attestations.
$van is planned as a later collateral and settlement asset, but isn’t live yet. current payouts are usdc.
capture happens through https://t.co/EXPikHmvmR using a wallet as login. no email or password, but an invite code is required to upload.
