Specs & fine print
Fine print is usually the seller's escape hatch. Every line here is a promise, written to be checked.
Microphone hears you only while the trigger is held. Speech Recognition turns speech into text on Apple's engine. Accessibility catches the trigger key system-wide, pastes at your cursor, and briefly re-reads what it inserted so it can learn your corrections. It does not log keys, read other windows, or watch your screen.
The raw transcript still lands at your cursor, labeled as degraded rather than quietly passed off as a finished result. Everything is also in local history. Dictation itself never depends on our servers.
Password fields and secure input are detected and never pasted into. If you switch apps mid-cleanup it won't blind-paste into the wrong window — you get a click-to-copy card instead. Your clipboard is snapshotted and restored, so a newer copy is never overwritten.
A replacement has to be what those exact sounds would produce, and the sentence has to make the intended word obvious. When those two gates disagree, the transcript stays as transcribed — a visible garble you can fix beats a clean-looking wrong word you won't notice. A regression suite of trap sentences runs on every deploy.
