The interesting thing about address poisoning is that it exploits a normal user workflow. People copy an address, check a few characters, paste it and sign.
The problem is that a blockchain address was never designed to be a human friendly payment identifier. @Americanfort_io attacks that problem at the payment layer.
With Send to Name™, you send to a readable FortressName instead of copying a long address. Behind the scenes, the wallet derives a fresh one time receiving address for that payment.
That changes the security model. You are no longer asking: - Did I copy the right 42 character string? You are asking: - Am I paying the right name?
The important part is that the resulting transaction still settles on the native blockchain, there is no new chain and no pooled fund model.
The complexity moves away from the user and into the infrastructure. That is exactly where payment complexity should live. https://x.com/RifdahSR_11/status/2105220643436298561
## @AdriansCryptoo (Adrian) · 09-30 08:55 · ♥109 ↻0 💬133 address poisoning works because people only check the first and last few characters of a wallet address they want to send monies to and it ends there.
Ngl, I do too 😁
attackers generate a lookalike address that matches those characters, send a tiny transfer so it lands in your history and wait for you to copy it
in december 2025 one trader lost nearly $50M in Tether's USDT this way after copying the wrong address from their own transaction history 🥲
@Americanfort_io removes that copy and paste step
with a fortressname you send to an @name and the wallet works out the address for you.
each payment goes to a fresh one time address that only the sender and recipient can derive and only the recipient can spend from it
the payment still settles normally on the native blockchain. since every payment gets a new address, no fixed address sits in your history for an attacker to imitate
your name also doesn't publish a wallet, a balance or a payment history. one fortressname works across 13 networks today
a name is easier to read than a long string of characters and it takes away the exact step attackers rely on.
