VPinOS is a minimal, appliance-style Linux distribution based on Debian 13 designed specifically for virtual pinball cabinets. It boots quickly, provides GPU-accelerated graphics via Mesa Vulkan drivers, and launches Visual Pinball with the vpinfe frontend as its sole purpose. The system is currently in beta and includes configuration tools for GPU drivers, display setup, and network settings.
NullMoth Systems released a Metal driver enabling NVIDIA Turing-and-later graphics cards on Intel Macs running macOS 15 Sequoia via OpenCore. The driver translates Metal API calls through a custom stack (Apple AIR to SPIR-V to NVK/Mesa) and uses NVIDIA's open GPU kernel modules, with installation managed through the 1401 utility.
