How the estimate works

What's included

The item price, US sales tax where the forwarder's warehouse state charges it, forwarder fees, courier shipping, customs duty and local tax, in the order each country applies them.

What isn't

Insurance, courier clearance fees, currency conversion costs and local delivery charges. These vary by courier and can add a few dollars to a few tens of dollars.

Where the numbers come from

Customs rules from each country's customs or tax authority, forwarder fees from their price pages, and shipping from each forwarder's own calculator, quoted at 1 lb and 5 lb. Each country page lists its sources and dates.
