PANews, October 1 — In a speech at FRED Con, Federal Reserve Governor Waller said FRED traffic is currently growing about 150% per year, with the new traffic coming mainly from AI and bots, and AI agents already accounting for about half of visits. FRED has launched an MCP Connector, allowing users to find and retrieve economic data through an AI agent of their choice. The team is also developing skills to help agents use economic data correctly and advancing connections to historical data and archives.
FRED is an economic database maintained by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, short for Federal Reserve Economic Data, aggregating economic data such as interest rates, inflation, employment, and GDP.
